Department of Electronics and Automation
The Department of Electronics and Automation is a well-established academic unit dedicated to educating qualified technical professionals who can adapt to today's rapidly evolving technologies in line with the vision of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. The Department offers education and training in electronic design, communication technologies, control and automation systems, and artificial intelligence-based solutions required by modern industry.
The Department consists of four associate degree programs:

These programs combine theoretical knowledge with practical training through laboratory courses, industry-oriented projects, and compulsory internships, enabling graduates to transition successfully into professional careers.
Department Mission
The Department aims to educate qualified technical personnel who are competent in electronic circuit design, communication systems, control and automation technologies, and artificial intelligence-based applications; capable of analyzing, designing, and implementing industrial systems; equipped with the knowledge and skills required for digital transformation; and committed to sustainability as well as occupational health and safety.

Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to all programs either through direct transfer from the relevant departments of vocational high schools without an entrance examination or through placement by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) based on their Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) scores obtained within the scope of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS).
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must:
Successfully complete at least 120 ECTS credits;
Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00;
Successfully complete a compulsory internship of 30 working days.
Examinations and Assessment
Students must attend at least 70% of their courses to be eligible to take the final examination. The final course grade is calculated by weighting the midterm examination at 40% and the final examination at 60%. Students must obtain a minimum score of 50 on the final examination and achieve an overall course grade of at least 45. For project-based and practical courses, assessment also includes model development, data analysis, simulation, and industry-oriented projects.
Career and Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the Department may pursue careers in electronics manufacturing and maintenance companies, the telecommunications and communication sector, industrial automation and smart factory projects, robotics system design and maintenance units, Research and Development (R&D) centers, technology development zones, data science, artificial intelligence and digital transformation projects, as well as sectors such as healthcare technologies, defense industries, financial technologies, and smart city applications.
Horizontal and Vertical Transfer Opportunities
Horizontal Transfer
Students may transfer to other programs within Balıkesir Vocational School or to programs offered by other higher education institutions. Students wishing to transfer based on their central placement score must have obtained a YKS score, in the year of their initial enrollment, that is equal to or higher than the minimum admission score of the program to which they wish to transfer.
Vertical Transfer
Graduates may continue their undergraduate education through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by ÖSYM. They are eligible to transfer to bachelor's degree programs such as Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering.
